'The reality is that billions [of people] face few opportunities, countless indignities, unnecessary hunger and preventable death, and do not enjoy basic human rights... The world needs new strategies, genuine mobilization, empowerment and accountability...'
- Philip Alston, former United Nations Special Rapporteur, Special Procedures Report, July 7th, 2020 for the Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights

What We Want To Do
There is a crisis in global public health. Despite the invaluable efforts of the United Nations and national healthcare systems around the world, there is an immense disparity in access to care that stretches far beyond their extraordinary capacity.
Today, billions of people everywhere, in rich and poor countries, are left without reasonable access to health services, while billions of others are left destitute trying to pay for it.
At Citizens Medical, we would like to propose a different approach to how healthcare is funded and provided.
We believe that the ongoing politization, economization and weaponization of human health is taking a devastating toll on countless lives and on our societies. We believe that legal and bureaucratic obstacles are also severely limiting access to the world's vulnerable people.
At Citizens, we want to develop free, independent, donor-funded systems that literally, not just rhetorically, put the patient first.
We want to develop healthcare models that are 'open source', community-based and voluntarily funded by you, the people. Doing this would not only empower the recipient through greater access, but also the donor. You will decide where the money goes and how it is spent, not some bureaucrat somewhere reducing chronic illness or disability to a few lines on an Excel spreadsheet.
No one should be afraid to see a doctor.
We invite you to learn with us.
